Govt Eyes Military Logistics To Transport NEET Question Papers (Img: Internet)
New Delhi: Amid the ongoing NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy, the Centre is considering using military logistics support to strengthen security arrangements for the re-examination scheduled on June 21.
As per the reports, discussions are underway on involving defence forces, including the Indian Air Force (IAF), to assist in the safe transportation of question papers across the country. The move comes after allegations of a coordinated paper leak forced the cancellation of the earlier examination.

A key review meeting on NEET preparedness was held on Thursday at Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s residence. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, senior officials from the Education Ministry, National Testing Agency (NTA), and representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office attended the discussions.
According to sources, the meeting focused on strengthening security at every stage of the examination process, including paper setting, printing, transportation and distribution.
Officials indicated that the PMO is closely monitoring preparations, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being regularly briefed about developments related to the re-exam.
The government is planning stricter coordination among multiple agencies to ensure the examination process remains transparent and secure.
Sources said the proposal to involve the IAF was discussed as part of broader efforts to prevent any repeat of irregularities during the movement of confidential examination material.

The original NEET-UG 2026 examination was held on May 3 across 551 Indian cities and 14 international centres, with more than 22 lakh candidates appearing. However, the examination was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of a large-scale paper leak.
Officials said nearly 23 lakh students are expected to appear for the June 21 re-examination.
Meanwhile, the NTA has extended the deadline for candidates to submit bank account details for fee refunds till June 22. The agency said around 13 lakh candidates have already updated their information on the portal.
The CBI investigation into the leak case is also continuing. So far, 13 people have been arrested, including a doctor from Maharashtra’s Latur and a faculty member linked to a coaching institute in Pune.
