Gujarat: BSF apprehends 15 Pak fishermen in Kori Creek for illegally entering Indian waters

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) has nabbed, during an independent operation, 15 Pakistani fishermen for illegally crossing the international maritime border and entering in Indian waters in Kori Creek in Kutch, said this officials on Sunday. BSF Statement While talking to media persons, the official further said that the BSF has also seized an engine-fitted country boat. He said, "The BSF troops also seized an engine-fitted country boat used by the intruders. All 15 fishermen have been handed over to local police for further investigation." Kori Creek is located in the Rann of Kutch and is a strategically sensitive zone which forms part of the international maritime boundary between India and Pakistan. The area is largely uninhabited but is of significant economic and ecological importance. The operation was led by Ashok Kumar (2IC-Ops), Amit Kumar (Deputy Commandant, Bhuj), Anurag Garg (Assistant Commandant, 176 Battalion) and Inspector S. Kumar (68 Battalion). The team left from Laxmi Nala Jetty at 8:59 am and reached the area of operation at 10:50 am. Fast speed boats (FPBs) were also active in the operation. All of them are residents of Jati village in Sujawal district of Sindh province, aged between 20 and 50 years. They were illegally fishing in the Indian maritime area. An engine-fitted boat, about 60 kg of fish and 9 large fishing nets. 30 kg flour, 15 kg rice, 5 kg sugar, 3 kg ghee, 500 grams of tea, 1 kg salt, 500 grams of red chilli powder. 400 kg ice, 60 litres of diesel, 15 water cans (20 litre capacity), a 100 litre drum, and 100 sticks of wood.
