High Alert in Delhi, Uttarakhand after threat inputs from intelligence agencies

Intelligence agencies have sounded a high alert across Delhi and Uttarakhand following inputs of a possible terror attack by Khalistani terrorists in the coming days, sources said.

New Delhi: Intelligence agencies have sounded a high alert across Delhi and Uttarakhand following inputs of a possible terror attack by Khalistani terrorists in the coming days, sources said.

According to the alert, prominent temples in Uttarakhand and Delhi may be targeted. Apart from religious places, government institutions, railway stations and police establishments have also been identified as possible targets.

Suspicious Email Triggers Security Alert

The alert was issued after authorities received a suspicious email that allegedly mentioned several temples, government offices and political leaders as potential targets.

Security agencies are treating the contents of the email seriously and are examining the threat in detail. Officials have not yet confirmed the nature or immediacy of the threat.

Security Tightened In Sensitive Areas

Following the alert, Uttarakhand Police, intelligence agencies and Delhi Police have stepped up security arrangements at sensitive locations.

Surveillance has been intensified around religious places, transport hubs, government buildings and police establishments. Security personnel have been directed to remain vigilant as a precautionary measure.

Delhi Police Begins Probe Into Email Origin

Delhi Police has launched an investigation to trace the origin and authenticity of the suspicious email.

Security agencies are analysing the contents of the email and assessing whether the threat is credible. Further investigation is underway.

Alert Comes After Woman’s Arrest In Rajasthan

The alert comes days after the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad arrested a woman, identified as Babita Dhakad alias Khadija, for allegedly maintaining contact with members of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.

The accused, a native of Gangapur City who was living in Jaipur, was arrested following intelligence inputs about her alleged links with anti-national elements.

Foreign Links Found In Phone Probe

During the preliminary examination of her mobile phone, investigators found that she was using two SIM cards and a Facebook account containing objectionable material and links to foreign-based profiles.

Officials said several profiles in her friend list displayed flags, propaganda linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and other extremist organisations, along with images resembling armed militants.

The probe also found that she was allegedly in contact with multiple Pakistani and foreign numbers through WhatsApp. Sources said some Pakistani numbers found in her contact list are suspected to be linked to terror operatives.

Accused Booked Under UAPA

Sources claimed that during questioning, the accused told investigators that she had converted to Islam after being guided over the phone by a Pakistan-based Mufti. Investigators also suspect that her handlers were planning to facilitate her travel to Pakistan.

Based on the findings, the ATS booked her under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

She was produced before a court, which remanded her to ATS custody till June 27.
