New Delhi: An Air India flight from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur after a security alert linked to a reported hijacking rumour, triggering precautionary checks by security agencies. The aircraft landed safely at Jaipur International Airport, and all passengers and crew members were evacuated, according to a report.

The flight, identified as AI 2030, was moved to an isolation bay after landing. Personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) began examining the aircraft and passengers’ luggage as part of the security response.

Air India Flight Diverted After Security Alert

According to the report, the alert was raised as the aircraft approached Indian airspace. Air Traffic Control (ATC) and security agencies were informed, following which the flight was diverted to Jaipur instead of continuing to Delhi.

An airport official told Hindustan Times that the alert concerned a hijacking rumour rather than a bomb threat. The official added that it was too early to comment officially and that an investigation was underway.

Passengers and Crew Safely Evacuated

After the aircraft landed, all passengers and crew members were taken to a designated holding area inside the airport terminal, according to preliminary information cited by the newspaper.

Security teams subsequently began checking the aircraft and luggage. The precautionary measures were intended to establish the nature of the alert and determine whether any security threat existed.

Investigation Underway, Official Statement Awaited

At the time of the report’s publication on October 14, neither Air India nor the airport authorities had issued an official statement on the incident. Details about the origin of the rumour and the findings of the security checks remained awaited.

The diversion highlights how aviation authorities respond to potential security threats, even when the information prompting an alert has not yet been verified. A reported hijacking rumour does not, by itself, establish that an actual hijacking attempt occurred.
