Gulf countries try to mediate
The Gulf countries are trying to reduce tensions between India and Pakistan. Saudi Arabia and Egypt are talking to India as well as Pakistan.
Iran has publicly stated that it is "ready to use its good relations to build better understanding between the brotherly neighbours."
However, India has consistently opposed mediation by any foreign country. But it has briefed almost the entire diplomatic community about the possible Pakistani link to the attack. India wants to point out that "Pakistan is the country that continues to harbour terrorism."
