Jammu: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan on Monday directed authorities to ensure stringent and foolproof security arrangements at all tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the upcoming tourist season.

High-Level Security Review Meeting

The directions were issued during a high-level security review meeting held via video conferencing, where the overall security situation in the Union Territory was assessed with a focus on ensuring the safety of tourists.

Top Officials Attend Meeting

Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, along with top police and intelligence officers, attended the meeting and briefed the Home Secretary on the prevailing security scenario.

Focus on Tourist Safety

Emphasizing heightened alertness at key tourist hotspots, Mohan instructed agencies to ensure that no untoward incidents occur that could adversely affect tourism, especially as a surge in tourist inflow is expected in the coming weeks.

The Home Secretary also reviewed ongoing anti-terror operations in forested and mountainous areas. He directed security forces to intensify operations in higher reaches, where movement is likely to increase following the melting of snow.

Coordinated Security Strategy

Officials said a coordinated strategy involving the Army, paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Special Operations Group (SOG) is being implemented to counter threats and dismantle terror networks operating in difficult terrains.

Modernization and Resource Planning

The meeting also reviewed the financial position of the police department for the current fiscal year and discussed requirements for 2026–27, with a focus on modernization and strengthening of resources.

Call for Proactive Measures

Mohan stressed the need for proactive measures, close monitoring, and seamless coordination among all agencies to ensure peace, stability, and a secure environment for both residents and visitors.
