HP: One dead after car falls into Pabbar river in Rohru

At the time of the accident, two youths were riding in the car. One of them was rescued by the local people in critical condition, while the other youth was swept away in the river, whose body was recovered later.

Shimla: A horrific road accident occurred in Rohru subdivision of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday morning. A car (HP 52E-4006) went out of control near the Badhiyara bridge, a few kilometers ahead of Rohru, broke the railing of the bridge and fell straight into the Pabbar river. At the time of the accident, two youths were riding in the car. One of them was rescued by the local people in critical condition, while the other youth was swept away in the river, whose body was recovered later.

According to the information received, as soon as the car reached near Badhiyara bridge, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, due to which the car broke the railing of the bridge and fell straight into the river. Hitendra son of Mithar Sain resident of village Diswani, post office Kaloti, tehsil Chidgaon and Sanjeev Kumar son of unknown resident of village Ghar Shal, post office Devidar, tehsil Chidgaon were riding in the car.

Due to the alertness of the local people, Hitendra was taken out of the river in an injured condition and taken to Rohru Hospital. From there, seeing his critical condition, he was referred to IGMC Shimla, where his condition still remains critical. Hitendra has suffered serious injuries in the head and other parts of the body.

On the other hand, the other youth Sanjeev Kumar, who was travelling in the car, went missing after the accident. The administration and police reached the spot and conducted a search operation in the Pabbar river with the help of NDRF and local divers. During this, the body of Sanjeev Kumar was recovered some distance from the incident spot. The police took the body in their possession and sent it to the hospital for postmortem and after registering the case, they have started investigating the causes of the accident.
