Noida: The Training and Placement Cell of DME Media School successfully organized the HR Conclave ‘MediaConnect 2.0’ on March 27, 2026. The event was attended by experienced professionals associated with various media organizations. The objective of the conclave was to familiarize students with the corporate and professional environment, enabling them to better navigate future workplace challenges. This year's theme was-"Conscious Unbossing: Why is Gen Z Rejecting Middle Management?"
The program commenced with a welcome address by faculty member Ms. Garima Jain, who also introduced the concept behind MediaConnect. This was followed by the inaugural address delivered by Dr. Parul Mehra, Head of the Media Department. She highlighted the relevance of the theme, the role of young professionals in today's media industry, and the necessity of adapting to the evolving work environment. Subsequently, the guests were felicitated by Dr. Vishal Sahai and Dr. Yamini Khullar.
HR Conclave ‘MediaConnect 2.0’
In his address, Mr. Amitabh Chakraborty, HR Head at Private organisation, emphasized the importance of knowledge in professional life. He identified self-awareness understanding one's own strengths and weaknesses along with a clear grasp of the workplace dynamics, as the hallmarks of a successful media professional.
Following this, Ms. Videsha Kemkar, Editor at Private organisation, engaged with the students by posing the question: "What does success mean to you?" She explained that the definition of success varies for every individual and every generation, noting that Gen Z's mindset differs significantly from traditional perspectives.
Ms. Renu Mattu, HR Head at Private organisation, discussed the behavior, discipline, and learning styles of Gen Z employees, explaining how these shifts are impacting the contemporary workplace.
Mr. Simarjeet Singh Bhatia, Director and CEO of Themes Event Management, shared his experiences within the events industry and highlighted the energetic and goal-oriented work style characteristic of Gen Z. Ms. Neha Vadra, HR Head at My FM, shared a positive outlook regarding the radio industry, noting that even today, approximately 47.5% of the global population listens to the radio daily—a statistic that underscores the continued relevance of this medium.

During the conclave, a Q&A session was also held between the students and speakers, fostering an open discussion on various issues pertinent to Gen Z. The speakers clarified that Gen Z is not underestimated; rather, given the right guidance, they are capable of delivering exceptional results.
At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Vishal Sahay delivered the vote of thanks, drawing upon his own experiences to underscore the importance of research, dedication, and a strong work ethic.
Ultimately, this conclave proved to be a meaningful initiative that sought to bridge the gap between students and the industry—highlighting that understanding the disparity between what is taught in academia and the actual expectations of the industry is the most pressing necessity of our times.
