New Delhi: An Indian Air Force (IAF) Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter aircraft was reported overdue on Thursday evening after it lost radar contact shortly after taking off from Jorhat in Assam, IAF spokesperson informed Dynamite News.

The aircraft was last in communication at approximately 7:42 pm, prompting immediate concern and the launch of a search and rescue operation.

The incident has triggered a high-level response from the Air Force, with officials closely monitoring developments.

Aircraft Lost Contact Minutes After Departure

According to defence sources, the Su-30MKI had taken off from the air base in Jorhat for a routine sortie when it went off radar. The last recorded communication from the aircraft was logged at around 7:42 pm.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the nature of the mission or the number of personnel onboard. Standard operating procedures were immediately activated after the aircraft failed to respond to further communication attempts.
