IGP Kashmir V K Birdi Reviews Security Arrangements Ahead of Independence Day
IGP V K Birdi reviews multi-tier security arrangements at Balidan Stambh in Srinagar ahead of Independence Day, with heightened vigilance across Kashmir.
Srinagar: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi on Tuesday reviewed the security arrangements and preparations for Independence Day celebrations at Balidan Stambh in Lal Chowk here, as security agencies stepped up measures across the Valley ahead of August 15.
During his visit, Birdi took stock of the arrangements at the venue and reviewed the security preparedness for the upcoming celebrations.
The IGP said multi-tier security arrangements have been put in place across Kashmir to ensure the peaceful conduct of Independence Day functions. “Multi-tier security arrangements are in place not only at the venues but also around the city and in all districts of the Valley,” Birdi said.
He said security measures were being closely monitored at important locations and around venues where Independence Day functions are scheduled to be held.
Preparations for the celebrations are also underway, with full-dress rehearsals being conducted as part of the arrangements for August 15.
Birdi appealed to the people to participate in the Independence Day celebrations in large numbers and make the national occasion a collective public celebration. The security review comes amid heightened security arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Independence Day, with forces maintaining increased vigilance at vital installations, public places and other sensitive locations.
