A fresh western disturbance is set to change weather conditions across northern and central India between February 17 and 19, bringing rainfall, thunderstorms, and snowfall in hill regions.

Rain Alert in Punjab, UP, Rajasthan
New Delhi: The weather in North India is set to change once again. Due to the combined effects of an active western disturbance and the subtropical westerly jet stream, several states are expected to experience rain, snowfall, and temperature fluctuations between February 17 and 19. Meteorologists predict that the weather will vary in both the hilly and plain areas during this period.
According to the India Meteorological Department, light rain and snowfall are possible in the high altitude areas of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The weather is expected to be particularly active on February 17 and 18. Temperatures have risen due to sunshine over the past few days, but the impact of the western disturbance may bring a return of cold.
There are also signs of a change in weather in the plains of northwest and central India. Light rain and thundershowers are expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Rajasthan. Drizzle is expected in Madhya Pradesh on February 18 and 19. This could lead to a drop in daytime temperatures and cold winds.
While rain and cold will prevail in North India, hot and humid weather is expected in coastal areas of South India. A warning has been issued for strong winds around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Bay of Bengal. Fishermen have been advised to consult the weather before venturing into the sea.
Sudden changes in weather can also cause health problems. Experts have advised people to be cautious during cold and rainy weather, wear warm clothing, and avoid unnecessary travel. The effect of changing weather will be clearly visible in North India for the next few days, after which the temperature is expected to gradually become normal.
