New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast favourable conditions for the southwest monsoon to advance into several northern states over the next five to six days. The weather agency said the monsoon is expected to gradually spread across more parts of the North Arabian Sea, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand within the next two to three days.

According to the latest forecast, the seasonal rainfall is also likely to extend further into Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and parts of southeast Rajasthan during the following two to three days. The expected advance could bring much-needed rainfall to regions awaiting the full arrival of the monsoon.

Delhi Awaits Relief After Warm Morning

Despite the favourable outlook, the national capital continued to experience hot weather. Delhi recorded its warmest morning in nearly two years as the city awaited delayed monsoon showers. The absence of widespread rainfall has kept temperatures above normal, prolonging uncomfortable weather conditions for residents.

Heatwave Warning For Uttar Pradesh

While rainfall is expected to expand across northern India, the IMD has cautioned that heatwave conditions may continue in parts of Uttar Pradesh. The department warned that some areas could experience severe heatwave conditions on July 28 and 29 before the monsoon gains further momentum.

Weather experts believe the gradual advancement of the monsoon is likely to improve rainfall distribution across northern India in the coming days. This could provide relief from the prevailing heat in several regions and support agricultural activities that depend on seasonal rains.

The IMD continues to monitor weather developments and has advised people to stay updated with the latest forecasts as conditions may change with the advancing monsoon system.
