New Delhi: The southwest monsoon has once again become active across several parts of India during the first week of September. On September 7, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, eastern Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, residents of Delhi-NCR can breathe a sigh of relief as no heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the region today. However, light to moderate rain may occur in some areas.
Weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh are expected to remain mixed across regions. The eastern parts of the state are likely to receive heavy rainfall on September 7, with the spell expected to continue for the next few days.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in eastern UP on September 8 and 9 as well.
However, western Uttar Pradesh, including areas like Noida and Ghaziabad, is unlikely to witness heavy rainfall today, and weather conditions may remain comparatively normal.
Bihar is also expected to witness active monsoon conditions. Several parts of the state may receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.
The impact of the weather system is likely to continue on September 8 as well. Authorities have warned that continuous rainfall could lead to waterlogging in vulnerable areas.
People have been advised to avoid open spaces during thunderstorms to reduce the risk of lightning-related incidents.
Eastern Madhya Pradesh is likely to experience heavy rainfall on September 7, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Rain activity is expected to continue on September 8 and 9 in the region.
While no heavy rain alert has been issued for western Madhya Pradesh, some areas may still witness thunderstorms and lightning.
Uttarakhand is also likely to witness heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and strong winds today.
Continuous rain in the hill state may increase the risk of landslides, slippery roads and debris on highways. Tourists and travellers heading towards hilly areas have been advised to keep track of local weather updates.
The sub-Himalayan region of West Bengal and Sikkim are also under a heavy rain alert, with chances of thunderstorms and lightning.
Parts of Gangetic West Bengal and the Northeast may continue to receive rainfall during the day.
For Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh, September 7 is expected to remain relatively comfortable as no heavy rainfall warning has been issued.
Light or moderate showers may occur in some areas, but the region is unlikely to witness intense monsoon activity today.
Overall, monsoon activity will remain strong in eastern UP, Bihar, eastern Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while Delhi-NCR gets temporary relief from heavy rainfall.
