New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall across Delhi and several parts of Northwest India on August 14 and August 15, as monsoon activity continues across multiple regions of the country.
According to the weather department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha, while isolated areas of Chandigarh may also experience intense showers.
The IMD has advised people to stay updated with local weather alerts, especially while travelling, as rainfall intensity may vary significantly between different regions.
Delhi and several neighbouring areas in Northwest India are expected to witness changing weather conditions over the next few days.
The national capital is likely to receive light rainfall or drizzle until August 17, providing relief from humid weather conditions. Residents have been advised to monitor weather updates as short-duration showers may affect outdoor activities.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has predicted widespread rainfall across Tamil Nadu until August 17.
Several districts are expected to receive thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds. On August 14, moderate rainfall is likely in parts of the Western Ghats region along with districts including Madurai, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Villupuram, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram.
Officials said rainfall distribution may not be uniform across the state. While some areas may experience thunderstorms and showers, nearby locations could remain relatively dry.
The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha, with isolated areas likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall.
Chhattisgarh is also expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations due to active monsoon conditions.
Monsoon activity is expected to continue in several parts of Rajasthan on August 14.
The IMD had predicted rainfall across divisions including Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner. However, rainfall intensity is likely to gradually decline across most parts of the state from August 15.
Some areas of western and northern Rajasthan may continue receiving showers. On August 16, isolated rainfall is expected in parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota and Bikaner divisions.
