New Delhi: The southwest monsoon has continued its steady progress, bringing seasonal rainfall to several more parts of the country. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon has now covered additional areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan, the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, the entire National Capital Region of Delhi, and most areas of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

The weather agency said atmospheric conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to advance further over the coming days, raising the likelihood of broader rainfall coverage across northern and western India.

Strong Westerly Winds to Continue Until July 8

The IMD has also forecast the persistence of strong westerly winds over southern peninsular and central India until July 8. These wind patterns are expected to support active monsoon conditions and contribute to rainfall activity in several regions.

Meteorologists continue to monitor changing weather systems closely as the monsoon strengthens over different parts of the country. Residents in areas likely to receive heavy showers have been advised to stay updated with official weather advisories.

Orange Alert Issued for Parts of Maharashtra

An orange alert has been issued for parts of Maharashtra, where moderate to heavy rainfall is expected. The warning indicates the possibility of intense rain in some districts, prompting authorities and residents to remain prepared for weather-related disruptions.

The IMD has urged people in vulnerable areas to exercise caution, especially in locations that are prone to flooding or waterlogging during periods of heavy rainfall.

Mumbai's Andheri East Subway Remains Open

Despite continuous rainfall in Mumbai, the Andheri East Subway has remained operational. As of the latest update on Saturday morning, no waterlogging has been reported at the busy underpass.

Vehicular movement through the subway has continued without major disruption, offering relief to commuters even as the city remains under a heavy rain alert. Authorities are maintaining close surveillance of low-lying areas to ensure traffic and public safety if rainfall intensifies later in the day.
