New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s traditional attire once again became a talking point during India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations as he addressed the nation from the Red Fort wearing a striking red tie-dye turban.
For his 13th consecutive Independence Day address, PM Modi paired the vibrant headgear with a white kurta, chocolate-brown vest and tricolour pocket squares, creating a blend of simplicity, patriotism and cultural symbolism.
The red tie-dye turban, also known as bandhej or bandhani style, represents India’s rich textile traditions, particularly associated with regions such as Rajasthan and Gujarat.
