New Delhi: Addressing the 'India AI Impact Summit 2026' held in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a proud moment for the entire world, especially the developing countries in the Global South. He said that India is home to one-sixth of humanity and such an event demonstrates India's global importance.
PM Modi described artificial intelligence as the most revolutionary technology in human history. He said, "What we are seeing today are the first signs of AI's potential. It is increasing productivity exponentially, and its impact has never been seen before in history." He compared AI to historical discoveries such as the art of writing and the invention of wireless signals and said that its true impact will become more evident over time.

PM Modi described deepfakes and fabricated content as a major threat to global stability. He said that just as there are safety standards for food and beverages, there should be authenticity labels in the digital world. He emphasized the need to establish global standards and adopt watermarking and clear source standards for AI-generated text, photos, and videos to maintain transparency and trust in the digital world.
Appreciating the participation of youth at the summit, the Prime Minister said that Indian youth are using AI to help agriculture, security, and the disabled. He described this as a major success of 'Make in India'. He said that India's young talent is developing AI models and technologies that will be effective for business as well as social reforms.
