New Delhi: India has removed the external security perimeter outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, dismantling traffic bollards and barricades placed around the diplomatic compound.
The move comes three days after Pakistan took a similar step outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, marking another development in the ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two neighbouring countries.
Indian authorities removed the security barriers around the Pakistan High Commission as part of what appears to be a reciprocal move following Pakistan’s decision to dismantle barricades outside the Indian diplomatic mission.

The developments reflect the strained state of India-Pakistan relations, which have witnessed several diplomatic exchanges and disagreements in recent months.
The latest move comes amid a fresh diplomatic controversy involving US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
During his first visit to the Union Territory, Gor described Jammu and Kashmir as an “important part of India” and praised the region’s natural beauty. He also indicated that the United States could reconsider its travel advisories for the region following improvements in security conditions.
The remarks triggered a strong reaction from Islamabad, which objected to the description of Jammu and Kashmir as part of India.
Following the ambassador’s comments, Pakistan summoned US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker in Islamabad and lodged a formal protest.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said it rejected the remarks and maintained its position that Jammu and Kashmir remains a disputed territory. Islamabad also referred to US President Donald Trump’s earlier offer to mediate between India and Pakistan after their military conflict last year.
The removal of security barriers outside both countries’ diplomatic missions comes at a time when bilateral ties remain fragile.
Both New Delhi and Islamabad have continued to respond strongly to developments involving diplomatic representation, Kashmir-related statements and regional security issues.
