Srinagar: The Kilo Force of the Indian Army conducted a community outreach programme for the Gujjar and Bakkarwal community at Sultanpur Kandi, Bandibala, on September 15, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts towards inclusive development and community welfare.
The programme is aimed to support local residents by encouraging education among children, promoting skill development opportunities for youth and addressing concerns raised by elders and community representatives.
During the outreach event, solar lights were distributed among families living in Dhoks to help children continue their studies and improve access to educational resources. The initiative was aimed at supporting students in remote areas and encouraging them to pursue education for a better future.
The programme also included awareness sessions about various government welfare schemes related to healthcare, education and social support. Officials interacted with local residents and community leaders, discussing issues affecting the region and highlighting available opportunities for development.
More than 200 people from nearby areas of Bandibala participated in the programme. The event provided a platform for interaction between the Indian Army and local communities, strengthening trust and cooperation. The Kilo Force said that alongside its responsibility of protecting the nation’s borders, the Indian Army continues to contribute towards nation-building initiatives and promotes the message of 'Aman and Awam'.
