New Delhi: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s remarks on Operation Sindoor during his United Nations General Assembly address sparked a fresh diplomatic exchange, with Indian diplomat R Srinivas’ reaction during the speech becoming a major talking point online.
As Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s version of the 2025 India-Pakistan military escalation and praised his country’s response, cameras captured R Srinivas, a member of India’s UN delegation, appearing to dismiss the claims. The visuals from the UN session later gained attention on social media.
During his address, Shehbaz Sharif spoke about Operation Sindoor and described Pakistan’s military response as a successful action. He praised the country’s armed forces and presented Islamabad’s perspective on the confrontation with India.

India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. New Delhi said the operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
India has rejected Pakistan’s claims regarding Operation Sindoor and maintained that the operation was carried out as a response to terrorism.
New Delhi has repeatedly emphasised that regional peace and security cannot be discussed without addressing concerns related to cross-border terrorism.
During Sharif’s UN speech, Indian diplomat R Srinivas’ visible reaction drew attention as he sat among members of the Indian delegation. The moment was widely shared online, with users discussing India’s response to Pakistan’s remarks.
Sharif also referred to international efforts that helped end the military escalation and thanked US President Donald Trump for what he called timely intervention.
