Gorakhpur: An IndiGo aircraft has been grounded at Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur airport after it suffered a tail impact during landing, prompting inspection and maintenance checks.
The incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 2379, which experienced the tail impact while landing at Gorakhpur airport on August 19, 2026. The matter was reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as per standard safety procedures.
Airport officials confirmed that the aircraft involved in the incident has been grounded and will remain out of service until necessary inspections are completed.
IndiGo said the aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance and will return to operations only after receiving the required clearances.
In a statement, an IndiGo spokesperson said that on August 19, the flight from Delhi to Gorakhpur carried out a go-around during the landing approach as a precautionary safety measure. The aircraft later landed safely at Gorakhpur airport, and all passengers and crew members disembarked without any issue.
The airline said scratches were observed around the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) inlet area during the regular post-flight inspection, following which the aircraft was taken for maintenance.
The aviation regulator DGCA has been informed about the incident, and a probe team is expected to inspect the aircraft.
The incident comes as aviation authorities continue to maintain strict monitoring of aircraft safety standards. The aircraft will resume operations only after completing all required technical checks and approvals.
IndiGo reiterated that the safety of passengers, crew members and aircraft remains its top priority.
