New Delhi: Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt near the Line of Control in north Kashmir on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The incident took place in Baramulla district after security agencies received specific intelligence about a possible infiltration bid, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

According to the Indian Army, the information was initially shared by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Based on this input, a joint operation was launched during the night of March 14–15 in the Buchhar area of the Uri sector.

Encounter in Dense Vegetation

During the operation, alert troops noticed suspicious movement inside dense bushes in the forested area. The Army team quickly repositioned their ambush and challenged the suspected militant.

As soon as he was confronted, the terrorist reportedly opened indiscriminate fire on the troops, triggering a brief exchange of gunfire.

Terrorist Eliminated, Weapons Recovered

In the encounter that followed, the security forces neutralised the terrorist, who officials said was believed to be from Pakistan. After the gunfight, troops recovered warlike stores, including an AK-series rifle, pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition from the spot.

Operation ‘Diggi-2’ Still Underway

The Army confirmed that the mission has been named Operation Diggi-2. Security forces are continuing search operations in the area to ensure that no additional infiltrators remain hidden nearby.

The incident highlights the continued vigilance of Indian security forces along the LoC, where infiltration attempts from across the border remain a major security concern.
