New Delhi: Amidst escalating tensions in West Asia, Iranian President Masoud Pedeshkian held a telephonic conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the call, both leaders discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments in detail. He further emphasized the necessity of providing guarantees to ensure that such attacks do not recur in the future. Iran also put forward a significant proposal. Pedeshkian suggested that the nations of West Asia could collectively establish a regional security framework, thereby enabling the maintenance of peace and stability without external interference. He also appealed to the BRICS nations to play an independent role in this matter and assist in de-escalating tensions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed deep concern during the conversation. He stated that attacks on energy infrastructure are extremely dangerous and could potentially impact global energy and food security. He specifically underscored the critical need to safeguard the security of the Strait of Hormuz and to uphold the freedom of maritime navigation routes.
