Jammu and Kashmir: Five Alleged Terror Associates Arrested in Kulgam, Arms and Grenades Recovered

Security forces arrested five alleged terror associates in Kulgam during a joint operation and recovered pistols, ammunition and grenades as police investigate their alleged links to terror networks.

Srinagar: Security forces arrested five alleged terror associates in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district during a joint operation and recovered pistols, ammunition and grenades from their possession, police said on Tuesday.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the movement of terror associates, Kulgam Police, along with the Army’s 9 Rashtriya Rifles and 18 Battalion CRPF, launched a joint operation in the Khrewan Chadder area, officials said.

Five Alleged Terror Associates Arrested

The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals identified as Tajamul Hussain Mir of Gufbal, Rehmat Ali Naikoo of Khrewan, Tehrim Ahmed Bhat of Khrewan, Manzoor Ahmed Bhat of Khrewan Chadder and Kifiyat Ahmed Dar of Maltalhama, police said.

According to police, the security forces recovered two pistols, three magazines, 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition and three grenades from the arrested individuals.

Probe Underway Into Alleged Terror Links

A case has been registered at Police Station Kulgam under relevant provisions of law, police said.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the alleged links of the arrested individuals with terror networks and establish the source and intended use of the recovered weapons, police said.
