Jammu: In a significant blow to the narcotics trade, Jammu Police on Thursday dismantled an alleged drug supply network by arresting three suspected traffickers and recovering heroin, cash believed to be proceeds of drug sales, and other incriminating material during a carefully planned operation.

Police said the action was carried out following sustained surveillance and credible intelligence regarding the movement of narcotics in the Jammu region. A special police team intercepted the suspects and conducted searches, leading to the seizure of heroin along with cash suspected to have been generated through the illegal drug trade. Electronic weighing scales and mobile phones, believed to have been used in the distribution network, were also recovered.

Investigators believe the arrests have exposed a crucial link in an organised drug supply chain operating in and around Jammu. The seized electronic devices are being examined to identify suppliers, associates and potential customers, while financial transactions related to the racket are also under scrutiny.

Officials described the operation as part of Jammu Police's intensified campaign against drug trafficking and reiterated their commitment to dismantling narcotics networks that pose a serious threat to society, particularly the youth. They said every effort is being made to identify the source of the contraband and bring all those connected with the network to justice.

A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway. Police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and share information about drug-related activities, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.

The latest success underscores the security agencies' continued resolve to curb the drug menace and strengthen efforts to ensure a drug-free and safer Jammu and Kashmir.
