J&K Terror Attacks: 3 Killed in 10 Days as Anantnag and Kulgam Incidents Raise Security Concerns

Two terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir within 10 days have left three people dead, including a police officer and two migrant workers. The incidents have renewed concerns over security in the Valley.

Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir has seen two terror attacks in the last 10 days which have claimed the lives of a policeman and two migrant labourers. There is once again increased attention to the security situation in the Valley even though high security is maintained.

In the latest terror strike, on Saturday, gunmen fired on migrant labourers at a brick kiln in the Kilam area of Kulgam district. Two labourers from Chhattisgarh were killed when one of the injured died due to his injuries.

First Terror Attack Ends a Police Officer’s Life in Anantnag

The first terrorist attack took place on July 22 in Anantnag, where terrorists gunned down Head Constable Aashiq Hussain Qureshi in Lal Chowk. The police officer was part of IR 3rd Battalion and had been called out for making arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra.

It was the first major terror attack in Kashmir since the April 2025 terror strike in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians lost their lives.

Security Forces React Vigorously

After the Anantnag attack, the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, and the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Kumar Sinha, had strongly condemned the attack and guaranteed stern action against the culprits.

But now the Kulgam attack has made it evident that there still exist a lot of security problems in South Kashmir.

Terror Threat Still Remains a Critical Issue

The murder of migrant workers is a reminder of earlier incidents of violence against non-local workers. Two workers belonging to Punjab were murdered in Srinagar in February 2024 in a similar case.

Efforts are being made by security agencies to locate people responsible for the latest attack in Jammu & Kashmir.
