Srinagar: As many as three terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in the Shukroo forest area of Keller in Shopian on Tuesday, said police sources.

Earlier gunshots were heard on Tuesday during an anti militancy operation in a forest area of Shopian, officials said.

They said a cordon and a search operation was launched by the joint forces in Shukru Kellar following an input about militant presence.

“As the combing was underway, some gunshots were heard,” they said, adding a tight cordon was maintained in the area.

Terrorists Posters

In the meantime, posters featuring the three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack on tourists have been pasted in several districts of south Kashmir.

The posters announce a reward of Rs20 lakh for anyone who provides information leading to their arrest. The attackers are still at large.

The combing operation is still underway.

Earlier Operations

Last month multiple anti-terror operations are underway in Anantnag and Shopian districts. Search operations are underway at multiple villages, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Security forces have targeted the residences of suspected terror associates. There are multiple villages where the search operation and the crackdown are in full swing.

Multiple agencies—including the local police and the paramilitary forces—are present, and they are tracking down these active terrorists and their support infrastructure, dismantling them, and cutting off all the connections they have here.

They are targeting the houses of the OGWs (Over Ground Workers). The search is being extensively carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with paramilitary forces.

Digital evidence, including mobile phones and some recorders, has been recovered and seized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The aim is to track down the activities of the terrorists and their support structure. Shopian has been a hotspot of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, especially before the abrogation of Article 370. Most of the encounters have been reported in Shopian, and at one point, local recruitment was the highest from South Kashmir’s Shopian.

Now, after the Pahalgam attack, multiple places and districts were searched, and the joint security forces carried a massive operation out.

Shopian is known as the apple town of Jammu and Kashmir, and this time, the police and paramilitary forces are conducting search operations in multiple villages of Shopian. The aim is to track down the terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Terrorists are being tracked down—and not just these terrorists, but also those behind them. All those people who are helping them out—the enemies within—will also be found out.

They will be tracked down, held accountable, and punished. That is the resolve and commitment of India.
