Srinagar: Two senior leaders formerly associated with Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) are set to return to the Congress fold today.

According to party sources, former ministers Taj Mohiuddin and Ghulam Mohammad Saroori will formally join the Congress in the presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Syed Naseer Hussain, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra, and other senior leaders.

Taj Mohiuddin had quit the Congress in August 2022 to join Azad’s newly floated DPAP. However, he resigned from the party last year.

Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, who served as vice president of the DPAP, had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency but was unsuccessful.
