The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, has recommended Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta, the senior-most judge of the Allahabad High Court, for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, has recommended the name of Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta is currently the senior-most judge of the Allahabad High Court, one of India’s oldest and busiest High Courts. His experience and seniority played a key role in the Collegium’s decision.
The recommendation aims to ensure continuity, administrative efficiency, and effective judicial leadership in the Uttarakhand High Court, especially following the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice.

The Collegium’s recommendation will now be forwarded to the central government for approval. Once cleared, Justice Gupta will formally assume charge as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
