Dehradun: To comomerate the courage, valour and sacrifice of Army Bravehearts, a dining table 'Table For One' in the Captain Vikram Batra Mess is dedicated to the indomitable courage and martyrdom of the martyrs in the Kargil war, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Today on Kargil Vijay Diwas 'Table For One' is exclusively decorated in honour of Kargil martyrs for their utmost sacrifice to protect the Motherland.

'Table For One' is not just a tribute, but a symbol of unwavering resolve with an eternal message that our martyrs are always there with us and for us.

'Table For One' is decorated in the way that reminds one and all the stories of exceptional sacrifice, heartwrenching pain and endless challenges of our brave soldiers during the Kargil war.

The decor at the table tells the untold 'stories' of courage and determination of our Jawans during the War. A little description of the table may convey some of the heartfull feelings of those moments.

1. The empty part of table

This empty expresses symbolically the agony as well as courage of the soldiers who laid their life for the Nation and never returned.

2. Red rose in a vase

The lonely and forlorn rose in a vase is a symbol of love and endless waiting. Love of the families of the heroes with patience of long wait in the hope of their return.

3. Red ribbon

Red is a color of bond and confidence. Thus a red ribbon tied around the vase is a symbol of unwavering determination that our soldiers showed during the War.

4. Extinguished candle

Extinguished candle depicts symbolically the soldiers spirit that keeps the flame of light alive in the darkness. It shows that their spirit is still alive and the day will definitely come when this flame will be lit again.

5. Lemon slice

The lemon slice placed on the plate reminds of an adverse destiny. It symbolises the pain and challenge about that torments that those brave Jawans might have undergone.

The Kargil War Backgrounder

The Kargil War was fought in 1999 between India and Pakistan. This War was a conflict over the Kargil district of Kashmir (now in Ladakh) with Pakistani forces infiltrating Indian territory. India responded with Operation Vijay (Army) and Operation Safed Sagar (Air Force) and regained all lost positions. The war concluded on 26 July which is commemorated as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
