New Delhi: Experienced Indian team batsman Karun Nair has taken a big decision before the upcoming domestic cricket season. Karun will return to the Karnataka team after three years. The Vidarbha Cricket Association has given Karun a No Objection Certificate (NOC), after which the way has been cleared for Karun to return to the Karnataka team. Karun is currently on a tour of England for the five-match Test series.

Played an important role in getting the title to Vidarbha

Nair played an important role in helping Vidarbha win the title in the 2024-25 season. He scored 863 runs at an average of 53 and also scored a century in the final against Kerala. Karun was able to make a place in the Indian team after eight years with the help of strong performance in domestic cricket. An official of the Vidarbha Cricket Association was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, "He has been an important part of our team in the last few seasons. We are sad to see him leave, but this is his decision and we respect it. We have given him an NOC. We hope he will perform well in the coming seasons as well."

Karun showed his strength in domestic cricket

Karun performed brilliantly in the Vijay Hazare Trophy ODI tournament and scored 779 runs by hitting five consecutive centuries. Along with this, he created a new record in List A cricket and scored 542 runs without getting out. However, he has failed to maintain the performance he showed in the domestic tournament on the England tour and has not been able to score a big innings in the three matches played so far.

Karun has been unsuccessful so far in the current England tour

Karun has played innings of 0, 20, 31, 26, 40 and 14 runs so far on the current England tour. 33-year-old Karun will face competition from R Samaran, KL Sreejith and KV Anish in the Karnataka team. However, his presence in the team will strengthen Karnataka's batting order. Experienced batsman Mayank Agarwal is also included in the Karnataka team. At the same time, Karnataka will not be able to get the services of fast bowler Vasuki Kaushik as he has sought NOC from the state cricket association to play for Goa this season.
