Srinagar: Security concerns have intensified in Jammu and Kashmir after several Kashmiri Pandit government employees working in the Valley were reportedly asked to stay away from their workplaces following a fresh terror threat.
According to reports, the precautionary measure was taken after a purported threat communication circulated allegedly naming members of the Kashmiri Pandit community along with their personal details.
Security agencies are currently examining the authenticity and origin of the message before reaching any conclusion.
Employees appointed under the Prime Minister’s special employment package have reportedly been advised to remain away from offices as a precautionary step.
Some employees allegedly mentioned in the threat communication have been shifted to Jammu, while others staying in the Valley have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement and remain in secure locations.
Authorities have increased security arrangements around residential areas where Kashmiri Pandit employees and their families are staying.
Security agencies are investigating the source of the threat message and assessing whether it poses an actual security risk.
Police and intelligence agencies are working to verify the claims and identify those behind the circulation of the alleged communication.
Officials have not yet publicly confirmed the authenticity of the threat message.
The development comes ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15, when security forces across Jammu and Kashmir have increased surveillance and strengthened security arrangements.
The Prime Minister’s special employment package was introduced to support the rehabilitation and return of displaced Kashmiri Pandit families to the Valley.
