Kedarnath Yatra resumes after weather clears
New Delhi: The Kedarnath Yatra, temporarily suspended on Sunday morning due to heavy rainfall, has resumed as weather conditions improved along the trekking route. Authorities have allowed pilgrims to continue their pilgrimage after closely reviewing the situation on the ground.
The yatra was earlier halted following an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department, warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms in Rudraprayag district. Devotees were stopped at designated safe checkpoints as a precaution while officials monitored the weather.
According to Rudraprayag District Magistrate Vishal Mishra, movement along the Kedarnath trekking route has now resumed, and pilgrims previously held at safety points have been permitted to continue their journey. The temporary suspension imposed earlier in the day has been lifted.
Authorities have urged pilgrims to proceed with caution and strictly follow all safety guidelines. “Pilgrim safety remains our top priority,” the administration said, emphasizing the need for travelers to stay updated on weather conditions during their journey.
During the suspension, sector magistrates, police personnel, and teams from the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were on high alert to ensure safety. Following improved weather and a reassessment of conditions, the pilgrimage has now resumed without incident.
