New Delhi: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday criticised a demonstration in London, alleging that Congress party flags were displayed alongside the flags of Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Sharing a video of the gathering on X, Rijiju said such demonstrations would not intimidate Indians who stand by the country.

In his post, Rijiju wrote that those participating in anti-India gatherings abroad could not weaken the country. He also alleged that the London protest was being led by a “pseudo Indian YouTuber” and asserted that pro-India voices would prevail.

The minister’s remarks have triggered a political exchange, with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh questioning the Centre’s response to domestic political demands and allegations concerning electoral processes.

Rijiju Escalates Attack on Anti-India Protests

Rijiju’s post comes amid a wider political confrontation over calls for regime change and allegations of attempts to destabilise the government. Ruling party leaders have criticised certain opposition figures and protest organisers over their statements and activities, arguing that their positions undermine India’s interests.

Moreover , the minister had earlier shared a video of senior advocate Prashant Bhushan’s remarks on Kashmir from 2011. In the clip, Bhushan was heard saying, “If Kashmiri people want to separate, let them be separated.”

Reacting to the broader political dispute, Rijiju had described the contest as one between those who support the Constitution and those he accused of promoting anarchy. He wrote on X that the “battle line has been drawn”, framing it as a contest between “Dimagi Naxals” and patriotic Indians.

On Friday, Rijiju also criticised those advocating regime change, posting a message urging patriotic Indians not to forgive “traitors”. His remarks followed a press conference in which Bhushan acknowledged the demand for a change of government, saying, “Yes, we want regime change.”

Sanjay Singh Questions Centre Over Electoral Allegations

Responding to Rijiju’s remarks, AAP MP Sanjay Singh accused the Union government of diverting attention from allegations relating to electoral processes.

Singh said that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rijiju wanted, they could stop the protests immediately. He questioned why the government was blaming young people while, according to him, failing to secure the resignation of an individual he accused of “vote theft”.

Singh further alleged that 13.37 crore names had been removed from electoral rolls across the country, claiming that the deletions had forced people to stand in queues. He argued that the government should address these allegations rather than criticise protesters.

The exchange highlights the continuing political confrontation between ruling party leaders and opposition representatives over protests, demands for regime change and allegations concerning electoral rolls. Rijiju’s claims about the London demonstration and Singh’s allegations about voter deletions remain attributed to the respective political leaders.
