Lt Gen Mohit Seth Named New White Knight Corps Commander in Jammu

Lt Gen Mohit Seth has assumed command of the strategically important White Knight Corps at Nagrota, succeeding Lt Gen P.K. Mishra after a tenure marked by key operational responsibilities and military honours.

Srinagar: Lieutenant General Mohit Seth, SM, VSM has assumed command of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps (XVI Corps) at Nagrota taking over from Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM.

The leadership change comes as the strategically significant formation continues to oversee a crucial operational sector in the Jammu region, including areas along the Line of Control and its hinterland.

Lt Gen Mohit Seth Assumes Command at Nagrota

After taking charge, Lt Gen Seth called on personnel of the formation to maintain high standards of operational preparedness and professional conduct. He also emphasised the importance of teamwork and continued commitment to peace, security and stability in the region. His appointment brings extensive operational and command experience to the White Knight Corps.

Three Decades of Military Experience

Lt Gen Seth was commissioned into the 3 Madras Regiment in 1991 and is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and National Defence College. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has held several command and staff positions. Before taking over as commander of the White Knight Corps, he served as Commandant of the Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT) in Bhutan.

His previous assignments also include serving as General Officer Commanding of the Counter-Insurgency Force Kilo in Jammu and Kashmir and as Indian Army Liaison Officer at the High Commission of India in the United Kingdom.

Lt Gen P.K. Mishra Moves to New Appointment

Lt Gen P.K. Mishra had assumed command of the White Knight Corps on April 1, 2025. During his tenure he was awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM) at the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2026 (Phase-II). He had also been decorated with the AVSM, YSM and SM. Lt Gen Mishra is now moving to a new appointment following the change of command.

White Knight Corps’ Strategic Role in Jammu

Headquartered at Nagrota, the White Knight Corps has a key role in the security of the Jammu theatre. Its area of responsibility includes the Line of Control and International Border, along with counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.

The latest command transition underlines the Army’s continued emphasis on operational readiness, professional standards and mission preparedness in the strategically important region.
