Maharashtra Govt Orders Probe into Pune Land Deal Linked to Ajit Pawar’s Son Parth Pawar

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has constituted a high-level committee to investigate alleged irregularities in a controversial land deal in Pune. The case involves Amadea Enterprises LLP, a company linked to Parth Pawar, son of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The company is accused of purchasing government land worth ₹1,800 crore for only ₹300 crore. Fadnavis said that considering the seriousness of the matter, a detailed investigation has been ordered after a preliminary inquiry. This committee will investigate the entire land deal process, documents, and violations of government rules. The government has also suspended a Tehsildar and a Sub-Registrar with immediate effect. According to official information, 40 acres of “Mahar Watan land” in Pune, which was the property of the state government, was sold to Amadea Enterprises for ₹300 crore, while its actual value is estimated to be around ₹1,800 crore. The biggest question is how government land was sold to a private company at all, as it is completely illegal under the rules. Moreover, stamp duty was also waived in this deal, further deepening the suspicion. Government and departmental response Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that if a formal complaint is registered, the department will conduct a detailed investigation into the entire matter. He stated that the Industries Department provides concessions or exemptions in some cases; therefore, all documents related to that department will be requested. Inspector General of Registration Ravindra Binwade stated, “If this land was government land, its registration should not have taken place. Therefore, the concerned sub-registrar has been suspended.” He added that the committee will also investigate what documents were submitted at the time of registration and whether any kind of fraud or coercion was involved.
