Mumbai: The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (Maharashtra TET) 2026, scheduled to be held on June 28 at various examination centres across the state, has reportedly been cancelled after the question paper was allegedly leaked a day before the exam.
According to media reports, the paper was allegedly leaked from Thane nearly 24 hours before the scheduled examination. Following the paper leak reports, the Education Department decided to cancel the eligibility test.
As per reports, police received information about the alleged Maharashtra TET paper leak and launched an operation in Thane. During the operation, officials reportedly recovered the leaked paper.
Several people have also been taken into custody in connection with the case, reports said. Police are investigating how the paper was leaked and who all were involved in the alleged racket.
After the alleged leak came to light, the Education Department decided to cancel the Maharashtra TET examination. Officials are expected to share detailed information through a press conference soon.
The department is also likely to announce a revised examination schedule in the coming days.
Candidates who were scheduled to appear for the Maharashtra TET on June 28 have been advised to wait for an official update from the Education Department.
The new date and further instructions regarding the examination are expected to be released shortly.
