Imphal: Indian Army Chief (Chief of Army Staff) General Upendra Dwivedi made a one-day visit to Manipur.

During this, he reviewed the current security situation and operational readiness of Assam Rifles and Army formations deployed in the state.

During this, the Army Chief also made a courtesy call on the Governor of Manipur. During his visit, the Army Chief also participated in the Durand Football Cup.

Army Chief reviewed the operational readiness of the soldiers

A spokesperson of the Indian Defense Ministry in Guwahati said that during the visit, the Army Chief was briefed about the ground situation and the ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security.

He reviewed the operational readiness of the soldiers and appreciated their high level of professionalism, patience and dedication in challenging circumstances. General Dwivedi also made a courtesy call on Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and discussed issues related to security and development.

The meeting highlighted the ongoing coordinated efforts between the civil administration and the Armed Forces for peace and progress. The Army Chief will later witness a match of the 134th edition of the Durand Cup at the Khumn Lampak Stadium, Imphal, which is returning to Imphal after a gap of two years.

The pre-match ceremony will feature colourful cultural programmes and military displays showcasing Manipur's rich cultural heritage and the pride of the Armed Forces.

The Army Chief will also meet players and officials of both the local teams who will face off in the Group F match. The occasion will also witness aerial and ground displays by Army Aviation, skydivers of Special Forces, pipe and symphony bands and traditional performances, celebrating youth, sports and unity.

Gen Dwivedi's visit reaffirms the continued role of the Indian Army in building peace in Manipur, inspiring youth through sports and supporting military-civil cooperation for overall development.
