Security forces nab four extortionists
Imphal: Four extortionists were arrested in Imphal West for alleged extortion by security forces. The extortionists are associated with banned insurgent groups UNLF (PAMBEI) and SOREPA.
Two of them have been identified as Ningthoujam Nongpoknganba Meitei, aged 31, and Konthoujam Nelson Singh, aged 23.
The security forces conducted coordinated operations across Imphal West district. The raids were conducted under the jurisdictions of Sekmai Police Station, Lamphal Police Station, and Patsoi Police Station. As a result a number of arrests were made and arms and ammunition were also recovered.
After these operations the security forces have busted a major extortion racket active in the region.
