Imphal: Four persons have been arrested in Manipur after a two-day combing operation in connection with the alleged abduction of two inhabitants of Delhi and Jaipur, police said on Tuesday.
Manipur Police said the operation began on May 18 after the abduction complaint was filed, and finally, the four arrests were made at Himalayan Tiles Naka under Imphal West district.
Both victims have been rescued.
Police said the two victims were lured with the promise that they would receive training for a networking business.
Once they reached Imphal, they were kidnapped and threatened by the perpetrators, who posed as armed goons, demanding ransom and threatening to kill them if the ransom was not paid.
Police identified the four persons as Hellary, Lemba, Anand Singh and Naresh Singh. A .32 pistol and two gun licences have been recovered from them.
Another Incident
Police said security forces arrested a militant from Leirongthel Pitra under Nongpok Sekmai-PS, Thoubal District with pistol.
In another incident a militant was nabbed from Khabeisoi near 7 MR Gate under Heingang-PS, Imphal East District.
The arrested person is directly involved in recruiting new cadres to their organisation, police added.
A militant was nabbed from Khumbong Bazar under Patsoi-PS, Imphal West District and another militant was nabbed from Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leirak under Thoubal-PS, Thoubal District.
Police said in a search operation SMG Carbine with an empty magazine, modified CMG with one empty magazine, DBBL Gun, 9 mm Pistol and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the foothill of Kumbi Setupur under Kumbi PS, Bishnupur District.
Earlier Incident
Second week of May five people, including three militants, were nabbed in separate incidents during the last 24 hours in trouble-torn Manipur.
The state police said on Tuesday that security forces arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in a mob attack on the RSS office in Haraorou in Imphal East district in November 2024.
Security forces also arrested a cadre of Kangleipak Communist Party-People's War Group KCP (PWG) from Khongjom along NH-102 in Thoubal district, police said.
