Manipur: Police apprehends five including three militants

Imphal: Manipur police and security personnel nabbed five persons, including three militants, in three separate incidents during the last 24 hours, police said.

Police official said that security forces apprehended a militant from Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai under Lamphel-PS, Imphal West District. The arrestee was involved in extortion from the general public.

Security forces also arrested two militants, including a woman from the Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou area under Bishnupur District.

Security forces arrested an individual from Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai under Lamphel-PS for possession of illegal arms and ammunition.

Manipur Police arrested a person from Bishnupur Ward No. 3 Maning Leikai, Bishnupur District, in connection with the spreading of false information about firing at Phubala, Bishnupur District, on the social media (Facebook) platform on June 15 last.

Earlier Incidents

Three militants arrested during the last 24 hours. Manipur Police and security forces nabbed them in three separate operations, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Militant was nabbed from Wangjing SK Leikai under Thoubal PS, in Thoubal District. Manipur Police also arrested a militant from Kakching Phousupat Leikai area under Kakching-PS, Kakching District, Police said on Tuesday.

In yet another operation, Manipur Police arrested a militant from the Chingtham Pukhri Achouba area under Khongjom PS, in Thoubal District.

Recovered Items

In an operation, three IEDs, four Crude Grenades were recovered along the track of Yangoubung to Lalim Lok River under Moreh-PS, in Tengnoupal District .

In another operation, one INSAS Rifle without magazine, DBBL, three SBBL, two grenades without detonators, and three 51 mm Mortar bombs with cover were recovered from Wangoo Naral Samtak Hill areas under Wangoo-PS in Kakching District.

Earlier Militant Arrests

Yesterday on 2 June Security forces arrested three militants from the Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar No. 87 under Tengnoupal-PS, Tengnoupal District during operations during the last 48 hours.

Police said that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in Imphal West and Churachandpur districts during the last 24 hours.

One each of local made Carbine Machine Gun along with one magazine, Double Barrel Gun, Single Barrel Gun, .32 Pistol along with one magazine, two 7.62 LMG magazine, ammunitions , clothes were recovered from road side of Khumbong Loubuk Lambi Tera Makhong Road under Patsoi-PS, Imphal West District.

In another operation one .303 Rifle with one empty magazine, four Single Barrel Gun, three modified long-range Mortar, two IEDs (03 kg and 01 kg), two Pompi Bomb shell , ammunitions and communication equipments were recovered from Khuangmun under Churachandpur-PS, Churachandpur District.

Another Incident

In an earlier incident yesterday nine militants were apprehended in separate incidents in Manipur.

Police said on Saturday that security forces arrested three militants from Leimapokpam under Nambol-PS, Bishnupur District. Two 9 mm pistols were recovered.
