New Delhi: The monsoon may be nearing its final exit, but weather conditions across several parts of India are set to turn unsettled again. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across multiple states on October 1.
The changing weather is being linked to the presence of multiple active weather systems, including cyclonic circulations. Some areas could see winds reaching 70-75 kmph, while heavy rain, hailstorms and landslides may add to concerns in vulnerable regions.
According to the weather forecast, an upper-air cyclonic circulation is present over Assam and adjoining areas. Another cyclonic circulation is active over the northwestern and central parts of the Bay of Bengal.

The combined influence of these systems could trigger another spell of rain and thunderstorms from northeastern India to parts of central, eastern and coastal regions.
Along with rainfall, several areas may experience lightning and gusty winds. The weather conditions could remain particularly challenging in regions already affected by heavy rain during the late monsoon period.
Delhi and adjoining parts of the National Capital Region are expected to remain cloudy on October 1, with moderate rainfall possible during the day. Winds may blow at speeds of around 20-30 kmph.
The rain could bring some relief from the prevailing warmth, with the maximum temperature expected to remain around 34°C and the minimum near 23°C. However, commuters may face traffic disruptions and waterlogging in some areas.
Several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Agra, Prayagraj, Kanpur and Gonda, may experience thunderstorms, gusty winds of around 30-40 kmph and scattered showers.
In Bihar, districts including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Purnia could receive heavy rainfall, with lightning also posing a risk.
Farmers have been advised to take precautions for standing crops and ensure proper drainage in fields to minimise the impact of sudden rainfall.
Weather conditions are also expected to remain sensitive across Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Dehradun, Chamoli and Nainital in Uttarakhand, along with Kangra, Mandi and Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal Pradesh, may receive rain accompanied by strong winds.
In higher-altitude areas, prolonged or intense rainfall could increase the risk of landslides and falling rocks.
Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh may also witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. Low-lying areas of Assam and West Bengal could face waterlogging as the unsettled weather continues.
