Mumbai Ganesh Idol Tragedy: Two Dead, Five Injured After Massive Idol Falls During Transportation

Two people died and five were injured after a Ganesh idol fell during transportation for installation at a pandal in South Mumbai's Bhuleshwar area.

Mumbai: A tragic accident during preparations for Ganeshotsav claimed two lives and left five people injured after a Lord Ganesha idol fell while being transported to a pandal in South Mumbai.

The incident took place around 10 PM on Saturday on Balram Merchant Road near Kabutar Khana and Jai Ambe Chowk in the Bhuleshwar area. The idol was being carried for installation when it suddenly collapsed, injuring several people present at the spot.

According to officials, two people succumbed to severe injuries sustained in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Sanket Nevshe and Brijesh Hemant Joshi.

Five others injured in the incident were identified as Vaibhav Ghenand, Pawan Chaurasia, Lavanya Ganer, Divya Ganer, and Kunal Kashid. Officials confirmed that the condition of all injured persons is currently stable. Two children are also among those injured.

Soon after the incident, emergency teams including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, Traffic Police, 108 ambulance service, and municipal ward officials reached the spot and carried out rescue operations.

The accident occurred just ahead of Ganeshotsav, the 10-day festival that is celebrated with great enthusiasm across Mumbai and Maharashtra. During the festival, devotees install Lord Ganpati idols in homes and large pandals, followed by prayers and grand processions.
