New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that the music from the Beating Retreat ceremony is now available for the first time on WAVES OTT platform. He added that it will also be released on other platforms in the future.
Speaking during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said Indian music has been playing an increasingly important role in the ceremony over the years and is being widely appreciated across the country.
He described this year’s Beating Retreat ceremony as especially memorable, highlighting performances by the Indian Air Force, Army, Navy, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) bands. According to him, the Air Force band presented the “Sindoor” formation, while the Navy band showcased the “Matsya Yantra” formation.
The Army band’s performance included a tribute marking 150 years of the patriotic song Vande Mataram as well as celebrations of India’s achievements in cricket.
Modi said the ceremony reflects the rich musical traditions of the armed forces. He also noted that the combination of powerful formations and vibrant music makes the event highly engaging.
He added that earlier, the music and performances from Beating Retreat would fade from public attention after the event, but the new digital initiative ensures they can now be preserved and enjoyed.
