Naveen Jindal Unfurls 108-Foot Monumental Tricolours in Mohali and Kurukshetra (Img: Dynamite News)
Kurukshetra: Ahead of India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations, Flag Foundation of India (FFOI) President and Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal hoisted 108-foot monumental National Flags at Kurukshetra University and Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) University in Mohali, calling upon the youth to uphold the spirit of patriotism and work towards a stronger India.
The Kurukshetra event also marked the conclusion of the My Bharat Quiz, an initiative that witnessed participation from more than 7,000 young people and aimed to deepen awareness about India’s history, armed forces and the significance of the Tricolour.
Sharing his personal association with the National Flag, Jindal recalled his efforts to display the Tricolour at the Jindal Steel plant in Raigarh after returning from the United States. The issue led to a decade-long legal battle, which culminated in the Supreme Court’s landmark judgment on January 23, 2004, recognising every Indian citizen’s fundamental right to fly the National Flag with dignity.
Jindal said the Tricolour today represents the pride, unity and dedication of every Indian citizen.
Highlighting the journey of the Flag Foundation of India, Jindal said the organisation has installed more than 220 monumental National Flags across the country. The initiative began with India’s first 207-foot monumental flag installed in Kaithal in February 2009.
He also reiterated his demand to declare January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and observed as Parakram Diwas, as National Flag Day.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, Jindal said it strengthened public participation in celebrating the National Flag. He urged citizens to follow the Flag Code of India and ensure that old, faded or damaged flags are respectfully recycled or disposed of instead of being discarded.
Addressing the younger generation, Jindal encouraged youth to see the Tricolour as a daily source of inspiration and responsibility.
“India belongs to you. Whenever you face a challenge, strive to be the one who resolves it,” he said, urging young Indians to put the nation first and contribute towards building a developed India.
The Kurukshetra ceremony was attended by Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Professor Som Nath Sachdeva, Registrar Lieutenant Dr Virender Pal, faculty members, students and other dignitaries. The Mohali event witnessed the presence of CGC University Founder and Chancellor Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal and Vice-Chancellor Vinay Kumar Goyal.
The Flag Foundation of India, founded by Naveen Jindal and Shallu Jindal, works towards promoting awareness, respect and pride for the Indian National Flag through monumental flag installations and nationwide campaigns.
