New Delhi: An alleged audio clip circulating on social media has triggered fresh developments in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder case, with designated terrorist Goldy Brar purportedly claiming responsibility for the killing during a conversation with terrorist Paramjit Singh alias Pamma.
However, the authenticity of the audio clip has not been independently verified.
Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist designated by India, was shot dead outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, on June 18, 2023.
In the purported conversation, Brar allegedly says he planned the attack on Nijjar following tensions linked to the killings of his associates.
According to the audio, Brar claims that individuals including Sukha Duneke and Arsh Dalla had stayed at Nijjar’s residence after the deaths of his associates. He allegedly says this created hostility toward Nijjar and motivated the attack.
In the alleged clip, Brar is heard claiming that the attackers avoided firing inside the Gurdwara complex due to respect for the religious site.
He allegedly says the attackers waited until Nijjar moved outside the premises before carrying out the shooting.
Brar also claims he believed that gangster-turned-Khalistani figure Arsh Dalla was present in the vehicle with Nijjar at the time of the attack.
Nijjar was shot dead while leaving the Gurdwara parking area in Surrey.
According to details available from the investigation, a white sedan reportedly blocked his vehicle before masked attackers opened fire from close range. Reports said multiple rounds were fired, with Nijjar sustaining fatal injuries.
After the attack, the assailants allegedly fled the scene and escaped in a waiting vehicle.
Following Nijjar’s killing, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that Indian government agents may have been involved in the incident.
The Indian government strongly rejected the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. The issue resulted in a major diplomatic strain between India and Canada.
The Indian government designated Goldy Brar as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in January 2024.
Brar faces allegations related to murder, extortion and terror-linked activities. His name also emerged as a key accused in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
