Delhi is likely to experience intermittent rainfall (Img: X)
New Delhi: The national capital woke up to overcast skies on Monday as monsoon showers continued to affect several parts of the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall throughout the day, while a yellow alert has been issued for August 11, indicating the possibility of weather-related disruptions.
According to the IMD forecast, Delhi is likely to experience intermittent rainfall along with cloudy skies. The weather has brought down temperatures, with the minimum temperature recorded around 25 degrees Celsius and the maximum expected to remain near 31-32 degrees Celsius.
High humidity levels have added to the discomfort, with moisture levels touching nearly 90 per cent during the early morning hours.
Continuous rainfall over the past few days has raised concerns over waterlogging in several low-lying areas of the city. Locations including Ayanagar and Lodhi Road have recorded significant rainfall, increasing the possibility of traffic slowdowns and inconvenience for commuters.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during heavy showers and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall.
The ongoing showers have also improved Delhi’s air quality. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the satisfactory category, providing some relief from pollution levels that usually trouble residents.
Meteorologists said active monsoon conditions are responsible for the continued rainfall activity in Delhi-NCR. The weather system is expected to remain active for the next few days, though rainfall intensity may gradually reduce after Monday.
Residents have been advised to keep track of IMD updates and follow local advisories as weather conditions continue to change.
