Noida: Heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours has brought normal life to a standstill across Noida and Greater Noida, exposing the city's drainage and civic infrastructure.

Several key roads were submerged after continuous downpours, while rainwater entered shops, commercial establishments and basements, causing significant inconvenience and financial losses.

Ground reports from multiple locations showed severe waterlogging in residential, market and IT hub areas. Long traffic jams were reported on major roads as vehicles moved at a snail's pace through flooded stretches. Office-goers and daily commuters faced hours of delays, while pedestrians struggled to navigate waterlogged streets.

Authorities fail to implement permanent solutions

Residents alleged that despite repeated complaints over poor drainage and recurring waterlogging, authorities failed to implement permanent solutions. Many said the first major spell of the monsoon had exposed the reality behind official claims of improved infrastructure and monsoon preparedness.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Hapur, Lucknow and Kanpur. Authorities have advised people to avoid waterlogged routes, drive cautiously and follow weather advisories as more rainfall is expected over the next 24 hours.
