Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee strongly responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's criticism of the TMC government. Reacting to PM Modi's comments on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack, Mamata said, "We are not only shocked but also deeply saddened. Such rhetoric against Bengal is not appropriate."

Mamata Banerjee's open challenge to PM Modi

CM Mamata accused the Prime Minister of politicising national issues and challenged him. She said, "The entire opposition is representing the country internationally today and taking bold steps to protect national interests.

But are PM Modi and his leaders now saying that they will run 'Operation Bengal' on the lines of Operation Sindoor?  If they have the courage, go to the polls tomorrow itself, we are ready. Bengal is ready to accept your challenge."

Mamata also informed that her nephew and senior party leader Abhishek Banerjee is part of delegations abroad and he is speaking against terrorism every day. She attacked PM Modi and said, "You want to defame the opposition just so that BJP can take political advantage like a 'jumla party'."

"PM Modi is lying" - Mamata Banerjee

The Chief Minister directly accused PM Modi and said, "He lies, loots the country and then escapes. This kind of language does not befit a Prime Minister." She said that she would not comment on Operation Sindoor, but "every woman should be respected, do not forget that."

Mamata also accused the central government of deliberately naming Operation Sindoor with political motives. "When we are supporting the Centre against terrorism, the Prime Minister is criticising Bengal. Their policy is of 'divide and rule'," she said.
