New Delhi: The release of Discovery Channel’s documentary “Declassified: Operation Sindoor” has triggered a fresh war of narratives between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan’s military establishment responding strongly to the documentary’s claims.
Released on August 15, the two-part documentary features Indian military commanders and personnel involved in Operation Sindoor. It focuses on the planning, execution, and strategic details of the operation carried out by the Indian armed forces following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, criticised the documentary and described it as a “Bollywood-style” production.
The reaction came as Pakistan’s military establishment attempted to counter claims made in the documentary regarding Operation Sindoor and its impact.
The documentary showcases Operation Sindoor as a targeted military response to the Pahalgam attack. According to the documentary, the operation began on May 7 at 1:05 AM and focused on destroying terror infrastructure linked to the attack.
It highlights India’s military planning and precision strikes on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The documentary also states that the military action continued for around 88 hours before a ceasefire was reached following a request from Pakistan’s side.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is also featured in the documentary. He said India’s restraint and tolerance should not be interpreted as weakness.
Doval highlighted that India was prepared to take strong action when national interests and the safety of citizens were threatened.
According to officials, Operation Sindoor caused significant damage to terror infrastructure linked to groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Officials claimed that several training facilities, headquarters, and other terror-related infrastructure were affected during the operation.
They said the documentary has once again brought attention to an issue that Pakistan’s military establishment would prefer to move away from.
Indian officials alleged that Pakistan has continued an information campaign against India following Operation Sindoor.
According to officials, Pakistani-linked social media networks have attempted to spread narratives against the Indian armed forces through misleading claims, edited videos, and manipulated content.
Officials said such efforts are aimed at creating doubts among international audiences and influencing public opinion.
Indian intelligence agencies are reportedly monitoring online activities linked to these campaigns.
The documentary has once again brought Operation Sindoor into the spotlight, intensifying the ongoing information battle between India and Pakistan.
